The Departed

The departed was the best movie that we have seen and i think that it will beat The Godfather also. I really liked this movie which is surprising to me because i dont like gang and crime and action movies like this one. I am glad that i got to see it because it seems like everyone else has and i have no idea what they are talking about. The end of the movie was really weird. I have never seen a movie where basically all of the guys die in the end. It was really random when the elevator opened and the guy was there to shoot him and then it was random again when he walked into his apartment and he got shot right then and there also. The scene that i thought was unexpected was when the guy was thrown out of the building and landed right in front of the other guy. (sorry i don't know the names) If i would have seen that i would have freaked out more than he did and i thought he was pretty calm and sirene about it. I didnt follow the movie because i am never good at that but with this one i could kind of get what was going on. I had to ask Sam a lot of questions but i did get it in the end. This movie was really good and more then what i expected it to be.

Cool Hand Luke

Cool Hand Luke was a really good movie. It was definitely the best movie we have watched all quarter. I liked that the movie was in color and it really brought out more of the movie and it kept me and it seemed like the whole class more focused. The film also had a really great story line and it was kind of hard to follow but I think that was only because we had all half days so we had to break it up. At first I didn’t really understand what was going on except for the violation part. Then as the movie progressed it became clearer. The second time I didn’t get how they found Luke but then I realized about the magazine. The end was really disappointing. I did not expect Luke to get shot, but they warned him about a third time. For Luke, it must have been really hard for him to cope with everything about his mother and putting him in the box really made me wonder why they would do that. Obviously it didn’t teach him a lesson. Then when the guards kept beating him and making him work extra hard I felt really bad but if he didn’t screw everything up and try and run away then he wouldn’t have to deal with those consequences. When the bet about the eggs was on I thought that was disgusting and didn’t want to watch I definitely thought he was going to throw up. Fifty eggs are so gross to even think about it I don’t know how he did it. In the end it was all worth it for him I guess but not in the end of the movie.

I thought that psycho was a really good movie for the most part. It was not as scary as movies are today but that’s expected. I would have never known all the details in the back ground like the pictures and the pointed edges next to Norman, even if I watched the movie many times. The scariest part to me was when the detective went down into the basement and turned the chair around and say Norman’s mother's corpse. That was really weird and creepy especially for someone who sees the movie for the first time. I like the ending a lot too. It definitely isn’t an ending that someone can guess. The only clue that there is that he is the mother is toward the end of the movie when the detective is attacked by the "mother" and the wig falls off and every one sees that it is Norman and his mother isn’t even alive. Another thing that I thought was cool about the movie is how they used chocolate syrup for the blood in the shower because the movie is in black and white anyway and no one can tell if it was red or not. Everyone just assumes that it was red. The birds part of the movie was really creepy, but in a way a good way to kind of tie the movie together. It was neat how Marian's last name was Crane though, i'm sure they did that on purpose. The birds in his office were really creepy and when he kept saying phrases that had to do with birds it was just weird but ironic at the same time. In all, this movie was good and definitely better than Casablanca!
